This event brought together intellectuals, business and industry leaders as well as policymakers to celebrate the success of the diaspora, spread worldwide. July 19 - 24, 2011 - GEPI (Global Entrepreneurship Program Indonesia); Promoting Entrepreneurship between the U.S. And Indonesia: American and Indonesian business leaders inspire local startups, ISOE's CEO Naeem Zafar was part of a 13 person panelist, invited along with US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton to attend The Global Entrepreneurship Program Indonesia (GEPI). September 23, 2010 - Santa Cruz CA: Mei Lin Fung will be speaking at the “Women in Business Leadership Forum”, on social entrepreneurship and how to turn a value-centered idea into a successful entity. Mei Lin Fung, a social entrepreneur from Palo Alto, urged those in attendance to figure out what they can do to make this a better world. She told the story of her grandfather's grandfather, who was shanghaied to South America to work in a sugar plantation, and her grandfather, who was tortured after Singapore fell to Japan during World War II. "Generations have sacrificed for me to be here," she said. "I don't want to be the weak link in the chain. ... It's important for people who are shy, like me, to step up." Lea Haratani of the Santa Cruz County Resource Conservation District called Fung's global perspective "intimate and profound," adding, "I think that's the wave of the future." Read more
